THE SHAUKEENS SONGS REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Album Release Date : Oct 23,2014
The Shaukeens is an upcoming comedy film starring Akshay Kumar, Lisa Haydon, Anupam Kher in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by popular singer Yo Yo Honey Singh along with Hard Kaur, Vikram Nagi and Arko Mukherjee.
A paced up track paves the beginning of this interesting album with the digitalized voice of Yo Yo Honey Singh. The orchestration brings up an energetic atmosphere with good thump and vigor. This track would sure hit the top Bollywood charts this year!
An addictive trance styled track with ominous rhythm section and magnetic vocals by Neha Kakkar. The composition as a recurring feel throughout and never falters in the energy levels. The usage of electronic sequencing is done at its best in this track.
To turn the tables upside down, here is an interesting fusion of Hard Rock and Punjabi styled singing by the master of such songs- Mika Singh! The track has a deep philosophical aura throughout and Mika Singh takes it forward with his power packed singing. This eerie composition is based on the Hindustani Raag Shivaranjani, exploring the Rock dimension of it with perfection.
The title track has a breathtaking trendy presentation in terms of musical arrangements. The vocalists balance out the funky guitars and punchy rhythm with brilliant ease and style. This track interestingly has a 80s retro feel to it.
The album gets a laid back touch with this earthly melody in the midst of piano, mellowed rhythm section and lovely vocals of Jubin Nautiyal. The poetic lyrics add much to the value with great ease and the interludes are finely woven with lilting guitar, and mild sequencing as well. However, the vocalist sounds very much like another veteran singer Arijit Singh in terms of presentation.
It is time to get the pace back with a thumping party track having House Mix touches. The vocalist Aman gives the inevitable Punjabi touch and the superior sequencing adds much to the fun.
The album arrives to a finale with yesteryear composer Anu Malik’s solo now. His peculiar vocals singlehandedly take the track forward. The usage of tweaked child vocals gives the track an innocent look as well.
