GUNDAY SONGS REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Album Release Date : Jan 16,2014
Gunday is an upcoming action movie starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Sushant Singh in the lead roles. The music for the film is composed by Sohail Sen. Here is an exclusive review of the album.
The album kickstarts with a power packed track sung confidently by Javed Ali and Shadab Faridi. Usage of electric guitar, great percussions and the trance touch makes it a winner! The track is a blend of heavy rock along with easy listening genres.
An energetic track with good use of electric guitars and great rhythm section arrives next. Wonderful singing by the vocalists makes it an entertaining listen. The local percussions touch which arrives in the end is great fun way to end the track. The colloquial lyrics set to this addictive groove are sure to strike a chord with the masses.
In contrast with the first two energetic tracks, this is a breezy and laid back track sung by the brilliant Arjit Singh. His wonderful vocals blend well with the fine orchestration and appealing lyrics.
This party styled track brings back the pace of the album with energetic singing by Bappi Lahri and Neha Bhasin. The house mix genre style is ideal for a track of this sort and the lyrics blend well with it but the track lacks the melodic edge that some of the other racy songs on this album posses.
A brilliant melodious track from newcomer Shahid Mallya keeps the album’s energy going. Great string section, and the mellifluous way in which the track progresses make it a wonderful listen.
An amazing sufi track blended masterfully with classic rock and Western chord progressions. The singers pull it off with fantastic ease and make it a sure shot winner for this album!
A well executed mashup of drum and bass with plucky banjos is supported well with fine singing by the composer himself. The electro mix blends features bits of rap making it a celebratory title track of the album!
An essential rhythm based track with great electric guitar layered over energetic chorus and piano section. The percussions are prodigiously used over breezy vocals in between.
The classical version of the earlier track scores big by sticking to pure sufi styled orchestration and power packed vocals. The graceful presence of harmonium in the interlude is an added attraction or this version. However, it is the earlier version which makes more impact on the listener for its convincing blend of multiple genres.
The Bengali version of this funky track which appeared earlier arrives at the end of the album. Except for the Bengali lyrics, everything else in the track is same as the original.
