2 STATES SONGS REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Album Release Date : Mar 14,2014
2 States is an upcoming Bollywood movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel Two States. The film features Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. Music for the film is composed by the talented trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. Here is an exclusive music review of the album:
The album begins with an energizing track sung phenomenally by the lead singers. The progressive rhythm goes great with the electric guitar touches. The track has an instant likeable factor which lives up to the listener’s expectations. The track also has a melodic touch despite the modernity which makes it a winner!
After an energetic start, it time for a celebratory track from the voice of highly talented Benny Dayal. He gives the track breeziness blended with great energy and the orchestration is quite different from regular Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy compositions. The rhythm is steady paced yet jazzy and goes confidently as the track progresses.
The album lands to the world of melody in the mesmerizing voices of Arijit Singh and Chinmayi. The track has a great Sufi touch blended with modern guitar rhythm and foot tapping tempo. The vocalists handle the melody brilliantly while the tune is also instantly likeable and has lot of optimism associated with it. The blend of thythms such as Tabla from North India with South Indian instruments like Thavil is a unique attempt by the composers to suit the film’s theme.
The fusion party track arrives with lot of vigor having a blend of Punjabi style with House mix- which has become vogue off late. The track has everything what a party track needs- great energy, good mixing and electrifying rhythm. The vocalists do a commendable job with their Punjabi Folk style singing.
An emotional duet in Punjabi lyrics greets the listener with earthly voice of K.Mohan. The track carries a great emotional touch throughout and the rhythm is quite steady paced with a mellowed presence. The usage of harmonica in between not only gives the track a Country styled flavour but also adds more value to it.
The fusion track marks the grand finale of the album sung phenomenally by the vocalists. Interestingly the track is based on Indian Classical Raaga Sindhu Bhairavi. The track has a fusion between Punjabi and Tamil music done with extraordinary ease. While the lead vocals are in Punjabi Flavor, the rap lyrics are sung in Tamil style. The track also has an Arabic flavor throughout its progress associated with it.
