HIGHWAY SONGS REVIEW

The album starts off with a brilliant track of superior Punjabi style singing intermixed with strange Arabic Flavour and Trance Genres. The interludes are brilliantly woven with lilting flute and rhythm sections, and the track carries a great energy and soul throughout its progress.  The best aspect of the song is the convincing blend of many genres pumping undercurrent energy.

A breezy track with passionate vocals by A.R.Rahman himself arrives for the listener’s pleasure. The amazing orchestration with mellowed percussions and trance styled beats make it a sure shot winner! This track also carries an underlying energy which is so impactful- that it would take the listener on a journey on an imaginary Highway!

A jazzy track with mesmerizing vocals comes next just to celebrate the grandeur of A.R.Rahman’s music! The track has beautiful grand piano supported with a tune which is breathtakingly haunting. The inevitable breeziness and thoughtfulness it generates is overwhelming.

After a breezy tour on the Highway, here is a House Mix track as if to pace up things! The track goes on steadily with respect to rhythm and features Hip- Hop styled vocals.  The track has a peculiar Arabic flavor intermixed with electric guitars as well.

A traditional Punjabi track with great vocals and string section arrives next. The A.R.Rahman touch doesn’t go missing here as well with haunting flute and beautiful guitar section.  The track is quite intense and posses great depth in rendition, orchestration as well as presentation!

The soulful Pathaka Guddi is sung by A.R.Rahman now with his own signature style- laden with Passion, Vigor and Earthliness.  While the female version has more of mellowed determination, this version has straightforward energy associated with it- which is what makes it a must listen!

A fantastic track which redefines silence initially and slowly takes the listener to the World of Rhythm and Pace. The track carries a beautiful eeriness and mesmerizes the listener with what it offers.  It is like Rahman’s interpretation of New Age Music!

A power packed yet melodious track from the refreshing vocals by Sunidhi Chauhan is a sure shot winner! The Sufi Styled rhythm and Punjabi rendering are wonderfully interspersed with electric guitars, trance and not to forget- brilliant soulfulness!

The brilliant album comes to an end with a symphonic track and trademark Rahman style string sections. The track carries underlying happiness and hope throughout and an inevitable innocence as well. In short, the soulful track speaks of Hope and looking forward to a new day after lot of struggles! The Pan flute does its job brilliantly with its occasional appearance.
