KILL DILL SONGS REVIEW
Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Album Release Date : Oct 08,2014
Kill Dil is an upcoming romantic action entertainer starring Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Govinda in the lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy.
A retro styled track with contemporary orchestration and good bass work paves the way for an interesting album. The pulp fiction styled prelude opens the gateway for two powerful vocalists Sonu Nigam and Shankar Mahadevan. The mild guitar strums make sure their presence is felt in the heavy sounding track.
It is time for a fusion between House mix and desi Sitar touches throughout. Talented singer Sukhwinder Singh delivers his Sufi best for this paced up composition which is high on energy and fun moments. The bass work and electric guitar flavor is done commendably. The interludes are highly contemporary with the essence of Punjabi lyrics.
A thoroughly relaxing number in contrast with heavy sounding beginnings arrives next. The new master of melodious songs Arijit Singh does a great job with his earthly voice. The orchestration is mellowed and at the same time makes a good impact on the listener. Gulzar’s lyrics deserve a great mention for its poetic value and artistic feel.
This energetic composition has a strange philosophical aura in the midst of power packed rhythm and superior vocals. It also has a peculiar Arabic flavor intermixed with Bollywood style sounding. Sunidhi Chauhan who usually sings in higher octaves does a brilliant job in baritone voice for this composition.
An interesting track with a blend of symphony, harmonica and the breeziest voice of Adnan Sami arrives in style. The chord progression is done with great mastery and the mild rhythm section creates a great impact on the listener.
Another party track with groovy orchestration and fun filled layering of fusion instruments. However, it lacks the much needed punch which is usually present in Shankar, Ehsaan Loy’s compositions.
This melancholic composition is taken forward single handedly by vocalist Shankar Mahadevan. The song is mildly based on Hindustani Raag Shivaranjani which is used primarily for pathos oriented scenarios. The mild piano chord progression is a lifeline of the composition. Watch out for the raga Jam done by the master of extempore brilliance- Shankar Mahadevan!
The album arrives to a finale with a desi fusion with electric guitar. The track has a typical 90s Bollywood flavor intermixed with contemporary orchestration. Shankar Mahadevan’s Sufi vocals do the rightful job in perfection.
