Review by : Behindwoods Review Board
Album Release Date : Sep 24,2014
Haider is an upcoming Bollywood film starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Tabu in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Vishal Bharadwaj.
A modern groovy solo with interesting electric guitar percussions and fantastic rhythm section. Vishal Dadlani’s aggressive vocals aid the unique orchestration style of the composer. Gulzar’s lyrics deserve a great mention for this track.
An interesting track with a peculiar flavor of Arabic music and Sufi styled singing. Sukhwinder Singh delivers an emotional rendition in the midst of authentic string instruments pertaining to Kashmir area. The Celtic violin base touch gives the composition a great novel feel. Another highlight of the track is the story telling style of presentation.
It is time for a lilting solo from the master of breezy solo renditions- Arijit Singh. The slow chord progression, jazzy percussions and amazing lyrics make it a brilliant hearing. The composition creates a mesmerizing atmosphere of a rare blend between Jazz, World Music, Celtic percussions and what not?
The immortal ghazal Bada Hain Dard Ka Rishta which was earlier rendered by Mehdi Hassan is presented by Arijit Singh with his own style of mastery. The brilliance lies in the mild fusion made with percussions and lilting acoustic guitar.
The album gathers much needed with a typical Arabic styled composition sung by the ever energetic Sukhwinder Singh. The Arabic clarinet, syncopated rhythm and breathtaking lyrics by Gulzar make this track one of the best in this album.
A soulful composition in Hindustani Raag Pooriya Dhanshri- which has a character of amazing depth. Vishal Bharadwaj’s fresh vocals add an innocent nature for an emotional track of this song. Mellowed chord progression and minimal orchestration sets the right melancholic mood.
An interesting composition with groovy string section and the usage wood cutting as the rhythm pattern. The masterful playing of the strings in lower octave is fantastic and adds much value to the overall track.
An optimistic track sung by the yesteryear playback singer Suresh Wadkar with his usual brilliance. The peaceful treble and relaxing acoustic guitar does the rightful magic. Shraddha Kapoor’s raw vocals in Kashmiri Folk add to the fresh innocence of the composition.
The unique album arrives to a finale with a relaxing melody sung by the extremely talented Rekha Bharadwaj. Her peculiar vocals in the midst of blissful tabla and wonderful string sections make it a laid back listen.
