YENNAMO NADAKUDHU SONGS REVIEW

Gentle piano notes accompanied by a strong choir sing an uplifting melody set to beautiful words by Kutti Revathi before Premgi knocks it out of the park with a hard-hitting, head-spinning dubstep instrumental. The effects and instrumentation certainly have some thought put into it as Premgi boldly alternates between the contrasting styles.

Haricharan sings with the usual spikes and bursts of energy which we have come to expect from Premgi’s compositions over the years. Despite the western sound and orchestration, the melody does have a familiar native feel, possibly due to Yugabharathi’s lyrics. Interestingly, the track ends with a MJ like hoot which could well be a hidden tribute to the King of Pop.

A flat out folk tune with a groove and a rhythm section that’s hard to escape. Premgi does have some catchy melodies but they seemed disjointed and pieced together leaving the track short of a free flowing fluency. Vijay Yesudas and Saindhavi go about their business rather well, the latter is supported by some vocal overdubs and Saranya Ponvannan’s role here is made obvious.

Premgi usually has a knack of delivering some really good gaana numbers and here the genre is used in more serious light. With two power packed singers on board such as Mano and L.R.Eeswari the tune is guaranteed of spunk. Rest assured the song does have its ‘kuthu’ and is complimented with some heavy horns and guitars and leaves you wanting for more.

A hybrid of rock-rap closes this album with its share of high-points. Parts of the song such as the pre-chorus and chorus effectively lift the tune. The menacing guitar riffs too add weight to this heavy sounding song.
