APPLE PENNE SONGS REVIEW

Apple Penne is an upcoming film directed by Kalaimani which features Vatsan and Aishwarya Menon in the lead. Music is by Manisharma.
An emotional tune backed by a heartfelt performance by Poornima. The track, despite carrying a sense of a ‘heard-before’ approach manages to be engaging thanks to the compelling performance of Poornima.
Same tune as the earlier track but a different singer is employed to bring out the difference in the lyric. Once again it’s the singer, in this case Uma Ramanan, who lifts the tune with a performance of high caliber.
An item song which doesn’t waste time on double entendres and gets straight to the point on certain things. The track alternates between some Telugu sections to the Tamil portions. The groove is rather upbeat and sprightly as expected in such a song. Shakthi sings with the right attitude and also shows control over her vocal chords.
The idea of this track is interesting on paper and almost nearly well executed. The female vocals speaks out her lines and draws a singing response from her male counterpart, and all this is set to a decent melody and some subtle orchestration. But the length of the song does add to the fatigue of the idea.
A fairly peppy tune but very much on standard folk grounds and sounds that is very typical of Manisharma, still enjoyable. Padmalatha renders a joyous performance and gives you a crash course on the wonders of vegetables!
The intro and the following percussion rhythm seem to enter in a haphazard fashion but it’s the rhythm section that turns out to be the lifeline of the song. Manisharma does have a way with melodies and this one too is simple and easily accessible.
Velmurugan sings a track that’s well catered to his personality even if it’s not a highly charged composition. The folk nature of the tune makes him a good fit and offers him a good opportunity to showcase his range. The song features some very un-folk like instruments like the accordion and the strings which open the track and later settles into an unadventurous area.
