Harris peppers the song with his usual plating of directly accessible vocal and instrumental melodies and polishes it with crafty production. Karthik is challenged with a tune that demands a dynamic performance and he comes up on top.

A peppy duet, not short of catchy moments, follows suit with all the trademark Harris touches and ad-libs. The vocal melody is slightly old-fashioned with the classical Madhyamavathi raagam but its paired to a sprightly dance groove which gives the tune its personality. Harini’s vocals undergo the ‘Harris effects’ as she and Harish Raghavendra deliver the goods.

Without deviating too far from his style, Harris finds a middle ground to try something new with this folk tune. The cool guitar licks married to ghatam is definitely fresh, so is the melody. The progressive interludes and instrumental roleplay are minor shifts in a new direction for Harris. But the packaging and presentation is distinctive of Harris Jayraj’s successful track record.

The driving bassline sets you up for something lively but what we’re delivered is a pathos number that’s rather light, despite the mood. The vocal melody does carry strains of gospel but Yugabharathi’s lyrics remind us of its ‘soup song’ nature while Aalaap Raju’s emotive singing keeps you engaged.

The album closer is a typical kuthu song in Harris’s style with its simple hooks and mid-tempo rhythm. The vocal melody repeating itself leaves the tune short of some action. The proactive nature of the tune comes a little late in the day as the song picks up steam as it comes to a close. The choice of highly charged performers such as Jassie Gift and Velmurugan serve the song well.
