Tamasha is an upcoming romantic film starring the hit pair Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The film is written and directed by Imtiaz Ali and he is associating with A.R.Rahman for the third time after a couple of brilliant albums namely Rockstar and Highway. All the lyrics for this album are penned by Irshad Kamil.
This fun filled song which is already topping the charts with its promo release welcomes the listener to a wonderful musical world. The feisty strings, harmonica, cool rhythm and Mohit’s vocals even more relaxing and chilled out! The lyrics are quite happy go lucky and fresh to listen. This track will be an instant winner for its unpretentious aura and innocent interludes!
It is time to visit the pristine Punjabi lands in the form of soothing music and Mika Singh’s beyond perfect rendition. The song is brilliantly composed in Hindustani flavor laced effortlessly with Rahman’s typical keyboard base. This track would sure be a good hit among the masses. Also, it has an irresistible resemblance to Katiya Karoon- incidentally composed by A.R.Rahman for Imtiyaz’s earlier film Rockstar!
The album takes a relaxing detour with an ideal unplugged track sung by Alka in her sweetest voice. The sultry sounding Dubstep is blended with faint worlds of Hindustani Raag Desh - A personal favourite for A.R.Rahman. The trademark flute, keyboard touches and most importantly - the soulfulness is brilliantly resurrected in this composition.
The coolest party of the season takes off with a fun party number having mesmerizing loops and gripping rhythm section. Arijit Singh who usually is known for soulful renditions moves out of his comfort zone and renders this fast paced number. However, the native Punjabi flavor is brought to life by Sashwat Singh through his fearless vocals.
A refreshingly beautiful melody topped with Rahman’s signature Pan Flute usage in the right moments. The song kick starts as a stunner with Sukhwinder’s powerful vocals and amazing symphony which attempts an amazing duel with Hindustani Classical arrangements and western string section. The track progresses in a beautiful story telling fashion with timely touches of symphony and comprises of inexplicable emotion. Haricharan’s impeccable Hindi diction is rightfully complimented with innocent vocals of Haripriya as the track takes off to new realms.
The phrase contemporary melodious solo gets a unique meaning in the eternal voice of Lucky Ali. Tossed with sumptuous acoustic guitar and trance like chord progression, this track joins the list of best road songs composed by A.R.Rahman! Watch out for the meditative chorus and usage of lovely harmonica. A very special mention is needed for the thought provoking lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil!
An inevitable Sufi touch occurs with a thoughtful instrumental track rendered by the Mozart of Madras himself in a soulful manner. This experimental track attempts to strike a fusion between Far East and Middle Eastern musical Worlds and fuse them with Celtic ambience! The passionate violin duel takes the listener to a path to musical eternity!
The funkiest track of the album gets an additional remix treatment with more riffs, alert loops and peppy loops. It is interesting to see A.R.Rahman experiment more on Punjabi pop numbers with cooler mixing style. One can hear the retro sounds used effectively to give it a little more thump!
The magically compelling musical journey arrives to a fulfilling destination with a lazily adorable track and mild trance touches. While the listener expects a fast paced trance number which attempts to make a big time appeal, this track still manages to steal the heart with its casual yet classical approach and mesmerizing essence of eternity.
