Pithamagan saw two upcoming stars in Vikram and Suriya coming together in what was then a rare multi-starrer. Director Bala by then had carved a name for himself and much was expected from him with this offering. Vikram’s look in the film too raised a lot of curiosity. The film stood up to greater challenges from Vijay’s Thirumalai and Ajith’s Anjaneya when it came to hype and publicity.
