Debut director Muthaiah’s Kutti Puli is another drama set in a village where caste-related tensions are rife. Sasikumar, Lakshmi Menon and Saranya play lead roles.
Despite unfavorable reviews, Kuttipuli seems to be doing rather well at the box office with weekends reporting good attendance at the turnstiles. Turns out, the movie could easily reap the investment in another week.
The baby faced Lakshmi Menon is fast emerging as the safe bet for independent movies with about 4 movies in her datebook.

Sasikumar brings back small town magic with Kuttipuli, directed by Muthaiah. The movie also has Saranya and Lakshmi Menon in the lead.
Opening to above average attendance in theatres, the movie is met with not so favorable reviews.
Excessive melodrama seems to have done the movie in.
