Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu’s novel ‘Moondraam Ulaga Por’ has earned him the prestigious ‘Ilakkiya Chinthanai’ award. Vairamuthu feels honored by the recognition received from the honorable institution.

Vairamuthu’s novel ‘Moondraam Ulaga Por’ deals with the turmoil of farmers in India, a country known for agriculture but spelling doom for agriculturalists.  He has spent nearly 3 years in researching their struggles and motives and has taken 10 months to pen the book.

In a truly novel gesture, Vairamuthu has offered to share the profits of the book’s sales to the families that have been affected in the Cauvery Delta region. On the day of receiving the ‘Ilakkiya Chinthanai’ award, April 12^th 2013, Vairamuthu plans to action his generous intentions.

The novel is currently being translated in to English and will be made available in several parts of the world.
