Don't let the actors play cricket, says Cheran

Although the Tamil film industry is more or less crippled with the FEFSI strike, there is no dearth of film events in Chennai. The audio launch event of Malaipozhudin Mayakkathile, a movie produced by first time producer Mayuri Sekhar and directed by the erstwhile assistant of director Mysskin, Narayanan, was held in Prasad Lab yesterday. The audio launch was planned in a way to honor the assistant directors, in it that the audio was released by directors (Amir, Mysskin, Cheran) and received by their assistants.

Producer Mayuri, who could barely speak Tamil, started off the event by describing her love for Tamil movies. She said she watched Autograph with the help of her husband, who translated the movie for her, and fell head over heels for the movie. After which, she saw Paruthiveeran and decided to produce a movie in Tamil. “I never thought I will share the dais with so many celebrities like this,” she added.

Director Amir, who talked next, said that it’s heartening to see such people with passion stepping into production. Quickly veering into the FEFSI strike direction, Amir said that it was the out of work producers who are sitting on the issues without arriving at a decision. “This can well be solved in one-hour,” he opined. About the movie’s hero Aari, he mentioned that he knew him back from his Paruthiveeran days and revealed that Aari helped him in fitness for the Bharathiraja movie.

Director Cheran opined that if all the actors concentrate on playing cricket, there would be nobody left to cast in movies. Cheran also requested the issues to be sorted out soon. “I pray my ancestors for a quick solution because I do not pray to God,” he mentioned.

On director Narayanan, Mysskin stated that he is proud of his work. “He fought with me and left me but when I see his work, I can only be proud of him,” he revealed. Director Narayanan, in turn, reminisced his days with Mysskin and mentioned that those were his happy days. “I learnt a lot from him and he thought me how to be realistic. He is also the reason for my reading habit,” Narayanan said.

Teaser trailer and a promo song of the movie were showcased. Soundtrack of Malaipozhudin Mayakkathile is composed by a debut music director Achu, whose father is a renowned musician in Malayalam movies. Malaipozhudin Mayakkathile has Aari and Subha playing the lead.
