When people wait for Christmas for the carols, cakes and the celebrations with the holiday mood setting in full swing to welcome another brand new year, Kamal fans have a different reason to wait for at the fag end of 2010 with the release of the much-awaited Manmadhan Ambu. Kamal Hassan is in the lead again besides handling the screenplay, lyrics and playback singing. This is Red Giant Movies’ first movie with Kamal.

The duo of director K.S. Ravikumar and Kamal Haasan, after Avvai Shanmughi, Thenali, Panchathanthiram and Dasavatharam, join hands again in their fifth venture together. There is a special mention that all the actors had rehearsed together for several weeks before the shooting of the movie commenced.

Manmadhan Ambu is a full-length romantic flick fused with rib tickling comedy with Trisha and Madhavan sharing space with Kamal. This is the first time Trisha will act in director K S Ravikumar’s movie. Trisha is very happy that her dream of sharing screen space with her favourite actor Kamal has come true. She has dubbed her voice for Ambujam.

Madhavan is back again with Kamal after Anbe Sivam. He was busy in Bollywood with ‘3 idiots’ and is entering Kollywood after his earlier release ‘Guru en aalu’. Urvasi, Ramesh Arvind, Malayalam stars Kunjan and Manju Pillai are also part of the film. An interesting value addition is that Surya is playing a guest role.

Exalting locations usually take a share of the film’s extravaganza in K S Ravikumar’s movies and Manmadhan Ambu is no less a visual treat with many scenes having been shot at the grand Mediterranean Cruise. The shots also slice through magnificence of the European countries. Madhavan as Madhan and Trisha as Ambujam are paired together wherein Madhan, madly in love with Ambujam, wants to confirm her love. So Kamal Hassan as Major Raja Mannar plays the private detective to find out Trisha’s mindset. Kamal befriends her which makes Kamal’s pair Sangeetha worry about his partner. With all these interesting twists there is surety of a golden platter of romance and comedy waiting for the viewers. The names of the three lead characters have been blended to bring out the name ‘Manmadhan Ambu’.

Music is by Devi Sri Prasad and Kamal himself has penned the lyrics for a couple of melodies. Kamal Haasan and Trisha have lent their voices with kids for a song. The audio launch was celebrated in style spanning over two days in a cruise ship at Singapore. Kamal Haasan’s rendition of ‘Neela Vaanam’ has already become a chartbuster in Telugu version as well. Writer Gynani’s son Manush Nandan, an associate of Ravi K Chandran makes his debut as cinematographer.

Come this weekend and we will see if Manmadhan Ambu hits bulls-eye!
