In a land where cricket is the only religion that unites all the people and actors are the common Gods, it is understandable that people go crazy when they see both actors and cricketers on the same stage. That was the case at YMCA grounds, Chennai yesterday. The ground witnessed the best of celebrities across the globe.

The show started off with the Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan reciting a poem on the spirit of cricket, penned by lyricist Prasoon Joshi. Later he took the MCC spirit of cricket pledge with the nine captains.

Both Bollywood queens, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor managed to bring “Vanakkam Chennai” out of their lips with perfect diction. When Kareena, mesmerized the audience with her Chamak Chalo, Priyanka went a step ahead and made Harbhajan Singh bring out his Bangra skills during one of her songs. Later she attacked the defending champions Chennai Super Kings with her quirky questions and made Bollinger, Ashwin and Badrinath dance for the super hit Nakka Mukka and advised them never to take a girl out for dancing.

Prabhu Deva and Salman Khan fired up the stage with their Mukkala and Jana Jane respectively. The Colonial Cousins, Hariharan and Leslie made a rendition of a beautiful song from one of their albums. Katy Perry wounded up the entire show with her sensational performance. She even took a few batting lessons from Bollinger.

On the whole it was a starry night. Watch out for the clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians tonight.
