Following concerns raised by several Muslim outfits regarding the content of Vishwaroopam and the film’s portrayal of Muslims and the Islamic religion, a special screening was held by Kamal Haasan in an attempt to dispel all their fears. While Kamal was confident that the film did not show any religion in poor light, this has been disputed by one of the leaders of a prominent Muslim party.

Mr. Jawahirullah, a senior leader of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) and MLA of the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), along with others have met the Police Commissoner seeking a ban on the film.

Mr. Jawahirullah who had the opportunity to be a part of the special screening  voiced his concerns by saying, “There is a danger that the public may view any Muslim with a beard as a terrorist waiting for an opportunity to plant a bomb”.

The film has cleared the Central Board of Film Certification and is set for release this Friday, the 25^th of January.
