Rajinikanth files his affidavit

''The case is filed to tarnish my image'' - Rajinikanth

Nov 20, 2014

Tamil film industry appears to have been caught in plagiarism rows. Last month it was Vijay’s Kaththi and now it is Superstar Rajini’s Lingaa.

K R Ravi Rathinam, an aspiring director from Madurai had filed a writ petition last week alleging that the makers of Lingaa had stolen his story 'Mullaivanam 999' which he had uploaded in YouTube last year.

In his counter affidavit on this issue, director K S Ravikumar claims that the story of Lingaa has been written by Ponkumaran and he had written the screenplay adding many elements into it and that there is no truth in what Ravi Rathinam says.

Meanwhile Rajinikanth has also filed his counter affidavit denying the claims of Ravi Rathinam and asserting that Ponkumaran has written Lingaa’s story. He further states that people cannot claim copyright on the subject of Mullaperiyar, Pennycuick and the nationalization of rivers. The Superstar categorically says that the plagiarism case was filed with the intention of tarnishing his image and also to gain 'two minute' fame.
