Ilayathalapathy Vijay: Make it simple

As his Jilla is geared up for its Pongal release, director Neason said in a recent interview that he had made no tweaks to his script to suit the stardom of Ilayathalapathy Vijay. Neason said, “After the success of commercial, yet sensible movies like Nanban and Thuppaki, Vijay was clear of how his role should be.”
 

The director also recalled that when he narrated a fight scene, in which the actor will have to do something unrealistic, Vijay stopped him and asked him to keep it simple.
 

Another interesting feature of Jilla is the film’s milieu. It is set in a semi-modern, urbane Madurai, not the regular violence prone rural side of the city as depicted generally in our movies.
