Fans of Bharathiraja will have to wait no longer because his latest offering Annakodi is all set to release on the 28^th of June, according to sources within the industry. The film recently went through the censor test and earned itself a U/A certification.

The film that stars Karthika Nair and newcomer Lakshman Narayan in the lead, promises to be a classic 'salt of the earth' rural tale from the stables of Bharathiraja, who is a master at this genre. The film has an impressive soundtrack courtesy G.V. Prakash Kumar.

The film underwent a slight change in its title which was originally Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum, later trimmed to just Annakodi. Some believe that this was prompted by the significance of the lead female character.
