The interview scene in Shankar’s 1999 blockbuster, Mudhalvan, was a big highlight in the movie. A TV news reporter, played by Arjun, would interview the CM, played by Raghuvaran, and this episode would turn out to be a really fiery, hard-hitting and sensational part of the movie. Before this interview, we were shown a really nervous Arjun eating a banana, visiting the washroom and trying to maintain his composure and nerves.

Director A.R. Murugadoss recently said that his experience of narrating Dheena’s story to Ajith was also a very similar one. The director was a real bundle of nerves and had followed a similar routine to what Arjun did in Mudhalvan, it seems. He wondered if director Shankar also had encountered a similar nervous experience earlier in his career and said that those experiences might have mirrored themselves in the movie’s screenplay.
