Mandy Thakar plays a modern girl in Biriyani and the role she plays, which according to her is a “sexy and sensual” one, is unlike the real life Mandy Thakar. This is the first Tamil film of the Brit-Punjabi lady, who has done a handful of homely and sweet girl-next-door characters in her Punjabi films.

She is both elated and nervous about having done a glamorous character in Biriyani - elated to have bagged a meaty role and nervous about the South Indian people’s reaction to her role.

Sha has also done a pole dance in the film and Karthi, after watching her act, supposedly praised Mandy saying that she was the best of all the pole dancers he has come across.
