A.R.Murugadoss is proud about hailing from Rahman's land - Event Story

Jul 01, 2013

The music of Nedunchalai, featuring Aari and Suvatha, and composed by Sathya, was released yesterday evening, the 1st of July, in a memorable event at the Kamala Cinemas, Chennai. A.R.Rahman and A.R.Murugadoss did the honors of releasing the audio.

Murugadoss was visibly impressed about the fact that director Krishna was working with an unheralded and new cast and crew. He also said that Engeyum Eppodhum's director Saravanan decided to give composer Sathya a chance only after listening to his work in Nedunchalai. This gives us an idea about the long time taken for the music to finally see the light of day.

Murugadoss also recollected his assistant director days in the 90s when he used to be a bachelor renting a room in Dr. Subbarayan Nagar, just for the fact that Rahman's recording studio was also housed in the same locality. The entire locality used to be pitch dark at night except Rahman's studio as the composer would be occupied with work all through the night.

Murugadoss also admitted that he feels proud about introducing himself abroad as one who came from Rahman's land. He advised Sathya to take Rahman as his inspiration and work with dedication and also hoped that director Krishna would strike it big with Nedunchalai.

Rahman, who has already worked with Krishna in Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (SOK), told that the director usually narrated his stories in an emotionally charged manner and also patted him for making a quality product despite the absence of big stars. The wizard wished to work on more quality films here and not just the many big banner films that he gets in Hindi.

Krishna said that entering Rahman's studio is akin to entering a temple as we would get what we wish for, thanks to Rahman's unflinching hard work. He cherishes the one and a half years that he spent with Rahman during the making of SOK. He also expressed his appreciation for Murugadoss' films and their commercial viability.

Nedunchalai's music has been released by Think Music.
