Powerstar as an European fashion model along with Sehwag and Dhoni - Event Story
The music of the Santhanam - Shiva starrer, Ya.. Ya... was released today, the 19th of June, at the Sathyam Cinemas complex. Composer Vijay Ebenezer was the man of the moment as he was excited ahead of the launch of his third film's music. He has delivered 6 peppy numbers for this film, which has Shiva playing a guy named Dhoni and Santhanam playing another guy called Sehwag.
Shiva, Dhansika, the film's director I.Rajasekaran (a former assistant to Rajesh and SA Chandrasekhar), the producer M.S.Murugaraj, T.Rama Rao and T. Ajay Kumar from Sree Lakshmi Productions (the distributors of Ya.. Ya...) were among the dignitaries present. Thanu, R.B.Choudary, directors Rajesh, Hari, Sundar C, Pandiraj and Badri were also present. Santhanam couldn't make it for the event due to his obviously busy schedules.
A teaser, trailer and 2 songs were screened and the presence of Powerstar in the trailer earned the biggest applause from the audience, as expected. The music was released by Thanu, SA Chandrasekhar and RB Choudary while directors Hari, Rajesh and Sundar C received it, in the presence of the cast and crew of Ya.. Ya...
This is the first production venture of Murugaraj, under the banner 10 Productions, and he had worked as a production manager and executive for Sree Lakshmi Productions in many of their films. He has managed to complete the entire film in 4 months' time.
Thillu Mullu director Badri wished to cast Shiva as a dance master next, after seeing some of his unique dance moves in one of the Ya.. Ya... songs that was screened. RB Choudary recalled his long association with Sree Lakshmi Productions' T.Rama Rao and wished the team well. Pandiraj recollected the days when he was director Rajasekaran's roommate and said that the film looked like a jolly movie on the lines of a Sundar C or Rajesh film.
Hari was confident that this film will continue the trend of small flicks making it big at the box-office at the expense of even big budget flicks. SAC was happy to attend the event as he got his entry in the Telugu and Hindi markets thanks to Sree Lakshmi Productions. He also believed that his tastes have changed compared to the current generation's and was pleasantly surprised that some of the smaller films are running so well, thanks to patronage from the youth.
Rajesh was thrilled that most of his assistants have started their own films now and remembered the days when he was an assistant along with Rajasekaran in SAC's camp.
Sundar C felt that watching Shiva and Santhanam in the trailer was like seeing Gayle and Pollard in full form and he commented that only Shiva can become such a big star by uttering 'mokka' dialogues like how he did in his Kalakalappu. He also told that producer Murugaraj was a fast and efficient worker.
Vijay Ebenezer thanked Sundar C for his mentoring during the days of Kalakalappu and for making him a quick and sound worker. Shiva's speech was by far the biggest highlight of the day and he took the chance to pull Powerstar's leg royally.
He referred to Powerstar as a 'Hollywood Star' and said that the latter was playing an European fashion model in this film. During one of the scenes, when Powerstar was supposed to say 'Sehwag', he said 'Kesavan' instead and when Shiva recollected this incident, the entire hall burst out laughing.
Shiva also narrated the only moment when he was close to tears in his life, when Powerstar clicked a snap with him and commented that the two looked like brothers. This again was a big LOL moment for the crowd.
He was emotional when talking about his friend, Santhanam and said that the comedy superstar worked for free in Thillu Mullu, despite being the most busy artist in the industry. He concluded by asking for prayers not only for the film's success but also for Powerstar's welfare. Shiva nailed it big time when he said that Powerstar was currently on an official trip to Delhi (referring cheekily to his current jail sentence)
