Kumki refers to elephants which are trained to send rogue elephants back to the forest and director Prabhu Solomon who shot to fame with his earlier Myna used this premise as a backdrop to narrate a hilly love story. Vikram Prabhu, son of Prabhu Ganesan and grandson of the legendary Sivaji Ganesan made a decent debut appearance in this film which also had scintillating music of Imman and vibrant cinematography of Sukumar.
