Suriya got his big break in the industry with Bala’s Nandha in 2001, after a rather low-key beginning to his career. He looked well-built, heavily tanned and sported short hair, thereby looking the part as the loyal ruffian. It sure took guts from Suriya’s part to submit himself totally to director Bala’s intense script.
