Ajith teamed up with choreographer turned director Raju Sundaram for the official remake of the Bollywood blockbuster Main Hoon Na starring Shahrukh Khan. The previous year, 2007, saw an excellent year for Ajith with the average success of Kireedom and blockbuster success of Billa and the expectations were humongous for Aegan. The film saw little competition from Seval which released on the same day.
