When asked recently about the success of heroism based films like Mankatha as well as realistic films like Engeyum Eppodhum, Gautham Menon has said that in Mankatha, Ajith was the king while in Engeyum Eppodhum, the screenplay was the king. Ultimately, content matters, is what Gautham feels.
Regarding Ajith, Gautham is envious of the star’s mass following and gargantuan opening despite not acting in landmark mass films like Rajini’s Baasha. He says that Ajith is yet to get such a film.
