Perarasu, whose obsession with naming his movies with names of towns in different parts of Tamil Nadu, is back with his next in the series - Thiruthani. Thiruthani has been in the making for quite a long time as it was announced in 2008 and subsequently went on floors in 2009. Perarasu's commitments with other projects, including the Arjun starrer Thiruvannamalai and the film's lead Bharat's prior agreed projects including Nepali are said to have delayed the project.

Going by Perarasu's history of making commercial entertainers, Thiruthani is also an action entertainer with Bharath and Sunaina in the lead. The movie also has an impressive lineup of character actors including Rajkiran, Pandiarajan, Ganja Karuppu, Ashish Vidyarthi, MS Baskar, Ranjith and Chittibabu. Sunaina plays Bharath's female lead in the film. Bharath sports a Virumandi style sideburns for the movie.

Thiruthani was shot extensively in India and abroad including songs having been canned in New Zealand and France. Madurai was the primary shooting location and the crew was stationed there for many months for the shoots. Alongside handling the movie's story, screenplay, dialogue and lyrics, Perarasu has also composed music for the movie for the first time. Interestingly, the film has a song sung by T Rajendar.

According to Bharath, Thiruthani is a complete entertainer and that he has played the role of a gym trainer. As is usual with other Perarasu movies, Thiruthani will also have action, sentiment and comedy in abundance, generous doses. Brace yourselves!
