Dhanush's VIP falls short of Jilla and Veeram
Aug 10, 2014 Dhanush's 25th film, Velai Illa Pattathari, has emerged as a blockbuster and is running strongly in its 4th week too. The film is expected to hold on, till Anjaan releases on 15th and we have to see how many screens VIP is left with, after Anjaan.
The film is Dhanush's biggest hit in the USA too. Distributed by ATMUS Entertainment in the US, VIP has already grossed upwards of 225,000 USD and is expected to wrap its lifetime run at around 226,000 USD (close to 1.38 crores). VIP has been declared a blockbuster here too as the pre-release gross expectation from the film was just above 100,000 USD.
VIP's gross in the US is just short of Ajith's Veeram (243,955 USD) and Vijay's Jilla (230,221 USD), which released early this year.
The expectations from Dhanush's next release, the K.V.Anand directed Anegan, are huge, needless to say.
