The Thalaivaa release issue continues to dominate public sentiment and the anxiety and eagerness surrounding the movie's release is at an all-time high. Last heard, Ilayathalapathy Vijay, director Vijay and the producer Chandraprakash Jain have asked for an appointment with the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and if this meeting is resolved in an amicable manner, then Thalaivaa will release on the 16th of August.

The star meanwhile is advising his fans personally to maintain their calm and composure and not to resort to extreme means. He is also expected to meet the parents of Vishnu Kumar, the young 20 year old man who committed suicide in the light of Thalaivaa's postponement. 

When we contacted several exhibitors around the state, they weren't very sure of the movie's release date. An official in a leading theater in Chennai said "We have the release print with us and once the official clearance is given, we can exhibit the movie from 16th onwards"

Another theater manager on the request of anonymity said "I have seen the movie and there isn't anything in the movie against any individual or group or the government. I am confused about this issue and hope for a quick resolution to it"

The manager in a leading multiplex says "Thalaivaa is unlikely to release this week in our property as we have already finalized our programming line-up for this weekend and given its tax exemption related issues, I see August 23rd as a more likely release date for Thalaivaa"

On the whole, the situation is still murky and once the Thalaivaa team meets the CM, a clearer picture is expected to emerge.
