The legendary guru of AR Rahman and Ilayaraja is no more
Aug 03, 2013 V Dhakshinamoorthy, the legendary music composer breathed his last yesterday, 2nd August 2013. He was 94. Lovingly addressed as ‘Swamy’, he has been in the industry for more than five decades and has composed over 850 songs.
His disciples included big names like AR Rahman, Ilayaraja, and KJ Yesudass among many others. The genius has also been the mentor of many extraordinary singers like P Suseela, P Leela and Kaviyor Revamma.
Hridaya Sarasile Pranaya Pushpame, Vaikkathashtami Nalil, Arattinanakal Ezhunnalli, Tharaka Roopini, Manohari Nin Manoradhathil and Uthara Swayamvaram Kathakali Kanuvan are few of his evergreen classics.
