SRK's Chennai Express sets a new record
Aug 09, 2013Shahrukh Khan - Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express had extensive paid previews yesterday (8th August 2013), ahead of its release today (9th August 2013) and the movie has done roaring business to the tune of 6.75 crores net. This is a record by far, for paid previews business, as the previous mark was held by 3 Idiots which had netted 2.75 crores back in 2009.
The huge hype, the star power, the widest possible release and some catchy songs have done the trick along with the Eid festive mood. Trade pundits are expecting the movie to cross the 100 crores net mark before 5 days.
Early reviews have termed the movie a no-brainer entertainer and the masses are bound to enjoy the movie. Overseas markets have also opened very well in the paid preview shows and the stats are being compiled. We'll keep you posted.
