Madhavan is known to be a strict vegetarian and he promotes ethical treatment of animals. His efforts have been recognized yet again by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) as they have named him as the person of the year for his efforts to promote vegetarianism.

PETA said in a statement that Maddy was chosen for actively promoting vegetarianism as the best way to help stop animal suffering, cut down on pollution, fight climate change and improve general health.

Maddy felt honored at the same time surprised at being chosen for the honor. He also praised people like Trisha for their efforts in caring for animals. As part of his efforts, Maddy recently sent a letter to the CEO of a leading food chain encouraging them to practice PETA’s recommendations to prevent animal abuse. He also lent his voice to a PETA video.
