Anbustalin directed Melathaalam is a romantic comedy that has Niki aka Nischala Krishna and Abhinaya in the lead roles. While the team was shooting at Pallangi, a hill station, a funny incident occurred. Hearing about the shooting, a number of curious villagers turned up. The scene being canned was with Niki.
Suddenly the crowd swelled to hundreds and an excited buzz was to be heard as the villagers converged on Niki. Fearing trouble, Anbustalin slowly made his way into the crowd. He need not have worried, it turned out that the villagers had mistook Niki for R Madhavan. The actor tried to explain that he was a newcomer but there were some who refused to believe him and insisting on taking photos with Maddy.
The unit had a good laugh about it and took to calling Niki, Maddy even after the team left the place and resumed shooting in Chennai.
