Breaking - Thanga Meengal and Ponmaalai Pozhudhu back off, Thalaivaa to decide
Jul 16, 2013We had reported earlier that four Tamil movies are scheduled to release on the 26th of July - Pattathu Yaanai, Ponmaalai Pozhudhu, Sonna Puriyaadhu and Thanga Meengal. Many insiders in the trade felt that there wasn't space for four releases on the same day and were hoping that a few of these movies would back off to a later day so that the business prospects wouldn't be adversely impacted.
Now, we hear from authentic sources in the trade that the release of Ponmaalai Pozhudhu and Thanga Meengal has been postponed to August and the final date would depend on when Vijay's Thalaivaa releases and how it fares at the box-office. This is following a mutual understanding between the distributors of the four movies concerned.
Thalaivaa is touted to release on the 9th of August and even this isn't confirmed yet. Further announcements about Thalaivaa's release are expected to clear the air about the release of Thanga Meengal and Ponmaalai Pozhudhu. So, as of now we have Pattathu Yaanai and Sonna Puriyaadhu facing off on the 26th, following Maryan on the 19th.
