Selvaraghavan in a recent interview expressed his unhappiness over the system followed in the Tamil film industry, the narrow mindedness of the actors in script selection and the directors’ fear of exploration.  
 

He is obviously not pleased with the censor system, which restricts him from showing even the smallest amount of bloodshed. “13 years back I stepped into filmmaking believing that these would change. Nothing has moved forward until now and so have I”, laments Selva.
 

The Tamil actors’ choice of films irks him too. He believes that, if our actors, be it Ajith, Vijay, Vikram or Suriya pick the right projects, there is no one in any part of the world, who can challenge their talents. “I want to bring out the best of Suriya. Kamal Haasan can get the entire nation hooked to a spot for a full two and a half hours, if he shows his real prowess,” he says. But ask him about Dhanush he says, “I cannot speak about him, he is a part of my own blood.”
 

He also suggests that the directors must come out of their comfort zone and take up new challenges. He feels the Tamil industry directors have a fear of exploration, which doesn’t help Tamil Cinema grow.
 

Selva, with Irandam Ulagam, is exploring a romantic fantasy genre. The director has an opinion that 98% of what people call ‘love’ is absolutely untrue. With this film, he has tried to find what real love can be like and to what extent a couple truly in love can go, to express their love for each other.
 

The film stars Arya and Anushka in the lead. The final stages of post production are currently happening and the music, composed by Harris Jayaraj, can be expected in early August.
