The Venkat Prabhu diet - which is the landmark 100th film of a man who has a great fan following for his music - Yuvan Shankar Raja and rightly so is credited before the titles.

The default ingredient in Venkat's dishes - Premgi Amaren (Parasuram) plays the friend of Karthi (Sugan) and the opening 30 minutes goes along with the repeating sequences of the lead playing the smart guy, who keeps attracting girls at ease. The sequences draw comparisons not only from Venkat Prabhu's releases but also Karthi's Alexpandian. It is made for the fun loving youth, specifically who Venkat Prabhu most successfully targets his films at. But this time it was very much draggy and not serving for that purpose remarkably well.

The friends work for an automobile company which opens a new showroom at Ambur. Nasser (Varadharajan) is the VVIP - one of the top businessman in India is the guest for the opening.  Hansika Motwani (Priyanka) who is already our hero's lover - is about to interview him, working for a TV channel. Karthi ends up as the interviewer, as he lost the questions Hansika prepared for the program. Nasser gets impressed by Karthi, who with Premgi's help make a nice interview. Ramki (Ramakrishnan) as the Nephew of Nasser, gets irritated by the his idea of making him as the son-in-law of the family. They throw a party for the opening and our friends plan to leave for Chennai after they get their Biriyani as the main dish for the side dish 'Saraku'. And they get to their target and after that the trouble starts. As usual they follow a girl who come along - Mandy Takhar (Maya) who invites them to her room and 'water fall' continues. They end up drinking too much and when Nasser enters the scene they hid themselves in bathroom.

Karthi has been delivering some bad movies recently and this might well be the one that changes his fortunes. Hansika, as the usual female lead in Venkat films, makes start-stop appearances. We have a plenty of cast along with special appearances throughout the film and much more in a flash mob too. Premgi manages to evoke some laughter with his timing dialogues, particularly in makeovers as Tiger and Nasser.

Venkat Prabhu is the expert in his cooking (genre) - suspense/action combined with some good sense of humour and he excels this time also. Yuvan Shankar Raja has made some special efforts to register his 100th movie and succeeds in his intent. But, it would have been better, if he had recollected his style of lovely trademark tunes rather than going for a rappy tunes.  Editing was by K.L.Praveen and N.B.Srikanth who has done a great job in making a long first part look shorter but still is long. Cinematography is by Sakthi Saravanan who has managed to keep the scenes fresh in both the halves.

This 'Biriyani' is made with many 'chicks' and many ingredients (actors) and it manages to retain its success formula to give an okay signal to it, despite losing some taste (logic).

Marks: 7/10
