''I had to bring down my macho quotient''- Karthi

With the release of Biriyani around the corner, the team is busy doing their rounds of promotion. On that note, Venkat Prabhu and company namely, Ramki, Karthi, Mandy Thakar, Premgi, Vasuki Bhaskar and Yuvan Shankar Raja to name a few were present at a press meet in Chennai last evening (4th December 2013). The team shared their views and experiences before the microphone within the time that was allotted to each of them.

Ramki

I had not been into films for quite some time and wanted to make a comeback. I got myself ready physically and started listening to stories. When the stories were good, the producers were not and when the producers were good the story wasn’t. If both were good, directors were not good. It was a re-entry, and I wanted to be careful about it.

Finally I managed to get in touch with Venkat Prabhu. He told me the story. I was very impressed. I play a very important role in the film. Biriyani is my second innings and I am happy to be a part of this big team.

Premgi

I am happy that Biriyani is Yuvan's 100th film. My brother is the director of the film, so obviously I will act in the film. You have no other choice but to tolerate me.

Mandy Thakar

I want to thank Karthi, Venkat Prabhu, Premgi and the others in the sets. They did not make me feel uncomfortable for one moment. You know how you get that kind of vibe, may be when you dress like a Mirchi. You guys are thorough gentlemen. Please go watch it and support us because it is hot.

Yuvan

I never imagined I would do hundred movies. I really thank the directors and the producers and of course the press. I have achieved so much because of all your support.

Sivakumar sir acted in my dad’s (Illayaraja’s) first film. I composed the music for Karthi’s first film. Now in my 100^th film, he is the lead. Please do watch the film in theaters.

Venkat Prabhu

Karthi, Premgi, Yuvan, Suriya, Karthik Raja and I were all school mates. This movie was like a school reunion for us. We had a lot of fun.

I am happy that Yuvan's 100th film has been directed by me. In our family all have completed 100 films. My uncle Illayaraja has crossed 900 films. My dad (Gangai Amaran) has completed 100. Now Yuvan has reached that milestone.

Karthi is a very shy person generally. He studied in boy’s school and boy's hostel. I don’t know what he did in America though. But he is a very natural actor. He has acted as a very good womanizer in the film.

Karthi

It is a very special film. Back in school we used to walk around in half trousers and get parottas for two rupees in our school canteen. I am happy that we have all grown up enough to make a film together.

I am happy to act in Yuvan's 100^th film. When he was composing the music, we scared him saying the music was not good enough for his 100^th film. We kept torturing him. But I am happy the music has come out very well.

I have different looks in the film. They forced me to reduce my moustache. It was like bringing down my macho levels.

Produced by Studio Green, Biriyani is expected to hit the screens on the 20^th of December. The movie features Karthi and Hansika in the lead. Ramki, Mandy Thakar and Premgi will appear in important characters.
