'I'm not afraid of any consequences' - Manivannan - Event Story

Mar 31, 2013

The trailer and audio launch of Manivannan’s 50th film Nagaraja Chozhan MA MLA was held at a popular star hotel in Chennai. The gathering featured the likes of Sathyaraj, Ameer, Kalaipuli Thanu, Thenappan, Seeman, James Vasanthan and Namitha apart from Manivannan himself.

Manivannan said that the film will be as politically charged as Amaithipadai was and every bit as riveting and entertaining. He said that he feared no one and is prepared to face the consequences or the wrath of political groups if they take offence to his films. In his trademark matter-of-fact sense he said that they have nothing to take from him except his life.

He grew nostalgic at one moment admitting that he never wanted to be a director. While working with Bharathiraja, Manivannan would be sent to Ilayaraja to brief the music director about the song situations. This was when the music maestro grew fond of Manivannan and suggested him to a producer that fetched his first film to direct.

Sathyaraj said that he and Manivannan are inseparable friends and that there were occasions during the filming where the director would just allow him to act away, to the point that Sathyaraj himself had to call ‘cut’ for the scene. He said he was happy to join forces with Manivannan once again.

The trailer copy was unveiled by Ameer and received by Kalaipuli Thanu and Thenappan.
