The 84th anniversary of ‘Nadigar Thilagam’ Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan was celebrated on October 1st. The elder son of the legendary actor, Ram Kumar Ganesan welcomed the gathering and the guest of honour, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Shri. Rosaiah. Directors Santhana Bharathi and TP Gajendran were also spotted at the event.
The governor, while addressing the gathering, was all praise for Sivaji Ganesan. He recollected the days he spent with the actor while campaigning in Andhra Pradesh. “We were good friends, even though we mostly met for political reasons,” he added. About Sivaji’s acting, the Governor said, “There wasn't a single character he couldn't do and none can do a character as perfect as he could. His simplicity and courage were his USPs. I would say, he along with other legends like MGR, NTR and NS Krishnan were the greatest contributors of Indian Cinema.”
The Sivaji family took the opportunity to honour veterans like K Balachander, actress Kanchana, and Thavil exponent ‘Valayapatti’ AR Subramaniyam. A sum of Rs 50,000 was also donated towards the Sivaji Prabhu Charitable Trust.
