"People should be careful with KV Anand and Subha" ... Suriya warns

A press meet was held today, by the Maattrraan team comprising director KV Anand, composer Harris Jayaraj, writers Subha and lead man Suriya at the Residency Towers, Chennai.

KV Anand spoke about how Suriya is one of those rare actors who doesn't show any hesitation for a retake if required, even if he had given a nice shot. He is always full of enthusiasm and eager for any number of retakes. Anand said that even mega stars like Rajini, Aishwarya Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan have showed a small measure of displeasure after being asked for a retake following an awesome take. To this Suriya replied tongue-in-cheek, that he can't act well and takes atleast 17 takes for his director to get satisfied. This sent the entire gathering into bouts of laughter.

Anand commented that composer Harris Jayaraj has done a great job in the re-recording and the sequence in the movie when the conjoined twins are born, is supported by Harris' BGM score which almost gives the feeling of Jesus Christ's birth. Such is the feeling that Harris has infused into the RR. Only two reels are left for Harris Jayaraj to complete his RR work and after that the movie would be ready for release.

For the special effects, they have imported silicon from the USA to join the two Suriyas at the hip. They have consulted doctors from the Apollo Hospitals to make sure that the conjoined twins’ angle has been portrayed authentically.

Art director Rajeevan has replicated Russia in Hyderabad through authentic sets while a cave set has been done in Binny Mills which looks very original. Srinivas Mohan has supervised the VFX and he has previously worked in movies like Endhiran with Shankar.

Suriya in his speech said that he has done his roles, Vimalan and Agilan, in this movie without any reference. The character Agilan is really roguish it seems and he has a carefree 'devil may care' attitude. He jokingly warned people to be careful of Anand and the writer duo Subha, for they are the ones who have created such a character which is expected to be a shocker. Suriya has done this role without any reference and purely in his style. For the Vimalan character, Karthi has dubbed in the Telugu version 'Brothers'.

As reported before, Maattrraan would be the first movie to use the performance capture technology in India and each scene was shot twice for the sake of the conjoined twins. Five cameras were used to capture these shots and in CG, these shots were merged to portray the conjoined twins. 400 CG assistants have worked for Maattrraan.

Eros International would be releasing the movie in all areas on October 12 and the countdown has started for this grand commercial entertainer from the KV Anand - Subha - Suriya team.
