“They made me sing a song that I did not understand”

The audio launch of newbie Karthik Subburaj’s Pizza featuring Vijay Sethupathy and Remya Nambeesan was released today at the Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai. Prabhu Solomon, Seenu Ramasamy, Balaji Mohan, SR Prabhu, ‘Attakathi’ Ranjith, Madhan Karky and T Siva graced the event and wished the new team.

Prabhu Solomon praised Attakathi team’s out-of-the-box attempt and said, “I believe Pizza too will be a different attempt. The producer has studied the present trend well, for he is taking up projects that have freshness. I’m sure Pizza, like Attakathi will be a jackpot for the producer.”

Seenu Ramasamy who has directed Vijay Sethupathy in his Thenmerku Paruvakatru said, “When I saw the posters of the film, I thought it was about food. After seeing the trailer I have come to an understanding that this is a romantic-thriller or something of that sort. The cuts in the trailer and the music have been very differently made. And I’m sure Vijay has done a spectacular job, because I know how hard he works. I toasted him in the April sun for 34 days for the shoot of Thenmerku Paruvakatru. He slogged like an army man for me. I wish him and the whole team all the success”.

SR Prabhu wished that the film will rise as victorious as Attakathi.

Santhosh Narayanan, Pizza’s music director said that he showed his songs to international musicians, which they enjoyed. He said they particularly like Gana Bala’s songs.

Gana Bala entertained the audience with his witty speech. He said that composer Santhosh Narayanan and Ranjith are trying out weird experiments with his voice. Santhosh, who has also composed for Pizza, has made the singer croon a song in the blues genre. “They made me sing a song that I didn’t even understand. As if that was not enough, they were circumambulating me with a camera. I asked them not to take the video and also requested them to switch off the lights while recording. After the recording Santhosh said that I would become very famous and that even international musicians would want me. But I do not want to sing for them. I will sing in India and only in India,” spoke the singer.

Speaking on the occasion, the film’s director, Karthik Subburaj said, “While I was looking for a producer, I saw the promotions of Attakathi and was surprised to know that there are producers who encourage new comers. So I contacted Thirukumaran Entertainments through face book and gave them my script. Within a couple of days, they updated in their face book page that their next project would be Pizza. I was over the moon.”
