The Thaandavam team lived up to its ‘commercial movie with a difference’ tag by associating with the National Association for the Blind (NAB). Today at a press meet held in Chennai, it was announced that a premier show of this Vikram starrer would be held on the 27th of September, 10 pm at Satyam Cinemas. All the six screens would screen Thaandavam at 10pm and the entire proceeds from ticket sales would be given to the NAB to help fund its activities in Tamil Nadu.
It is expected that a lot of celebs would make their presence felt at this premier to not only catch the much hyped movie but also to associate themselves with a good cause.
The meet was presided by G. Dhananjayan of UTV South and also by the President of NAB, Ms. Nina Reddy. Daniel Kish was also present at the event and he was the star attraction thanks to his initiative to come back to India in December to conduct a workshop with the faculty and students of the NAB.
JB (Jagapathy Babu) and Amy Jackson represented the cast of Thaandavam though they were late, particularly Amy, due to her travel schedules.
JB reminisced about his experience as a youngster during his growing-up days in Chennai and was happy to be associated with this team.
At the meet it was also announced that a voice over dubbed version of Thaandavam is being readied by director A.L.Vijay just for the sake of the blind to also experience the movie. For his previous movie too, Vijay had associated with the Ability Foundation. Dhananjayan vowed to keep contributing to the society as well, through UTV’s commercial movies. He emphasized that commerce is not the only motto of his firm but also making a positive change to the society.
Mr. Ezhil, the honorable general secretary of NAB, gave a good speech about the activities of the NAB and appealed to the media to give a lot of awareness and exposure to their activities.
On the whole, this was one of those rare film press meets with a difference.
