Feb 13, 2015The man who displayed realism in cinema and an acclaimed director-cinematographer, Balu Mahendra is no more with us today and it has been one year since he passed away. But, his presence is always felt through his films.
Balu sir is renowned to be one of the cult filmmakers of his era. He started his career as a cinematographer and then went on to become one of the legendary directors. His films display reality, his visuals are unique and his outdoor shots are most sought after. Films like Moodu Pani (1980), Moondram Pirai (1982), Sathi Leelavathi (1993) and Raman Abdullah (1997) are still watched for their novelty.
Protégés of Balu Mahendra have also proven their directorial excellence in our industry today. He has churned out talents like Bala, Sasikumar, Seenu Ramasamy, Ram, Vetri Maaran and many more.
