Balu Mahendra makes a startling revelation!
May 30, 2013 The critically acclaimed Malayalam film starring Prithviraj, Celluloid, is being dubbed and released in Tamil as J.C. Daniel. The film is a biopic based on the life of someone who is considered as the father of Malayalam cinema, J.C. Daniel. It is believed that Daniel was inspired and mentored by the father of Tamil cinema, Nataraja Mudaliar.
The audio release function saw several renowned names present such as veteran director Balu Mahendra. During his speech Balu Mahendra made a startling revelation that the negatives of his films like Moondram Pirai and Marupadiyum among others were totally lost and cried out the importance of archiving classic Tamil films.
Backing his opinion was Abhirami Ramanathan who requested the Chief Minister to set up a museum for Tamil cinema.
