''One can serve the people with no greed or political ambition'' - Superstar Rajinikanth

To recognize Dr Rajkumar's services to the people and the film industry, a memorial was erected, spanning 2.5 acres, in Kanteerava Studios of Bengaluru. The event was attended by film actors Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Ambareesh, Minister Umashree, Dr Rajkumar’s wife Parvathamma, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Minister Roshan Baig, Mayor Shanthakumari, and others.

 

Speaking at the event, Rajinikanth said that he had adored Rajkumar all his life, and that he had enjoyed the good fortune of spending time with the Kannada icon in his last days.

 

Superstar also said that Rajkumar is the only person he has got an autograph from.

 

Among other experiences, Rajinikanth said, “Once when taking a walk with him, all kinds of people came and greeted him respectfully. When I asked him about that, Rajkumar Sir said that the people were honouring the art in him, and not him as a person."

 

"Rajkumar as a man has proved that one can serve the people with no greed or political ambition. He will now be elevated to the status of a rishi and will bless you all. Today it is a memorial, and it will slowly become a temple. There will be miracles. This is true,” he said.
