''Nobody wanted to do the role'', Sri Priya
Nov 10, 2013 Sri Priya, the acclaimed actress of the yesteryears, who is also a director and writer, is ready with her directorial venture titled Malini 22 Palayamkottai. The movie will be a remake of the Malayalam film ‘22 Female Kottayam’. and will have debutante Krish and Nithya Menon in the lead.
In conversation with the director on how she arrived at a decision to make this film, she said
“I wanted to direct a film, because it is my 40th year in the industry. My friend gave me the Malayalam version of the film and I casually watched it. But I was really angry after I watched it. As angry as I will be when I hear news about crime against women.
I realized I should remake this in Tamil and Telugu because there are a lot of such issues happening in the world these days.”
When asked about how she chose Krish as the male lead, Sri Priya replied saying that nobody wanted to do the role because it had a negative shade.
“Krish is a very brave actor. When I approached him, he was ready to take up the role. He is manufactured by two actors. Both his parents are actors. So I did not have much to teach him”
It should be noted that Krish is the son of the Malayalam actors Sathar and Jayabharathi.
