In a recent interview with a daily, Vikram spotted a major difference between the North and the South film industries. The Thaandavam star feels that the South has many directors but not many good writers. Whereas, the North has good writers too, says Vikram.

He is also very impressed with the North audiences’ response to good cinema. He notices that they appreciate both Masala films and art films.
 

This observation of Vikram is similar to what Kamal Haasan pointed out in the FICCI Media and Entertainment Business Conclave 2012. The Vishwaroopam maker had expressed his concern over the decrease in the number of good writers in the film industry.
