Pathbreaking filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh passes away!

Highly acclaimed Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh breathed his last this morning after suffering from a massive heart attack. He was only 49.

After making his debut in 1994 with Hirer Angti, Ghosh went on to make a total of 19 films in his career. His last was Chitrangada in 2012. In his 18 year career as a filmmaker, Ghosh received a staggering amount of accolades that which included innumerable National awards for nearly every film that he made. Rituparno Ghosh did not relegate himself to his native tongue Bengali alone, as he made films in Hindi and English as well.

Behindwoods expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the departed.
